Mojave 3 formed from the ashes of Slowdive in 1994. Rachel, Ian and Neil decided that distortion was fun but they wanted to make some thing that you could play on an acoustic gtr. The first album "Ask Me tomorrow" came out that year on 4AD Records , and was followed 2 yrs later by " Out Of Tune". the sound had moved on from slow country to mid-slow tempo country -rock..right-on... Alan forester had joined the band with his large c3 hammond organ, and Simon "Rosie " Rowe ,recruited from chapterhouse ,played some Robbie Robertson inspired riffage throughout. The band toured extensively before going back to cornwall to record album no3.."Excuses for Travellers". Unfortunately having spent most of the advance before booking the studio, were forced to build their own before any serious work could begin. The resulting record again owed much to the genius of young and dylan but showcased a band who's sound was evolving along with their DIY skills. "Spoon and Rafter" followed in 2002 , produced again by mark van hoen aka locust, friend and fellow traveller. Most notable for the extrodinary length of it's opening track, "Bluebird of Happiness" it was again recorded in the bands studio on trusty E16 . Between Mojave records both Rachel and Neil have released sturdy solo album's while Ian has been makin a fine and ferocious melody with his own band The Loose salute. "sweeter i've heard, but louder never" MySpace
