If I was asked to describe Arab Strap the first thing I would mention would be Aidan Moffat's broad, distinct Scottish accent. Because of that it sometimes seemed that Malcolm Middleton was a lesser part of the band. To be honest it was only really when the band split that I started to realise that Middleton was at the very least an equal part in what made the band great. Don't get me wrong, Arab Strap wouldn't be Arab Strap without Moffat but his musical partner was every bit as important to the band's unique sound. While reading some blogs at the weekend I was directed to Middleton's own website (link below) and was delighted to find some fantastic mp3 downloads on there. I recommend anyone, whether a fan or a newcomer to his music to have a listen as Malcolm does his on take on songs by Girls Aloud, Ladyhawke and The Saturdays as well as some rare and unreleased versions of his own songs.
