Cheeky Monkey

Yet another charity shop find and yet again another Scottish band that I previously hadn't heard of. Cheeky Monkey were a transatlantic collaboration between Francis MacDonald (BMX Bandits, Eugenius, Teenage Fanclub) and New York based musician Michael Shelley.

Superstar : Superstar

Superstar were a Scottish band which formed in 1992. The band were signed to Creation Records then finished up on Camp Fabulous. This single was taken from their 1998 album 'Palm Tree'. The band were led by Joe McAlinden who was formerly a member of The Groovy Little Numbers and BMX Bandits as well as working with Teenage Fanclub.

It looks as if the Superstar back catalogue has been deleted but their albums are readily available on e-bay and Amazon at low prices.

Superstar : Every Day I Fall Apart

Another single taken from the 1998 album 'Palm Tree'. This one also released on Camp Fabulous is my favourite of the Superstar releases and shows just how great a songwriter Joe McAlinden is.
