Mercury Rev - Delta Sun Bottleneck Stomp [EP]

This single released in 1998 on V2 records is taken from one of my all time favourite albums Deserters_Songs. This version of the single is different from the one in my collection* and is actually better in my opinion. The second track is a cracking cover of a John Lennon song from his Imagine album -
1 Delta Sun Bottleneck Stomp
2 I Don't Wanna Be A Soldier
3 Philadelphia
4 Delta Sun Bottleneck Stomp [Chemical Brothers Remix]

* While I try to only post stuff from my own collection on here sometimes it is quicker and easier to post stuff from another blog rather than ripping/uploading it myself. Whenever I do this I will always post a thanks and/or a link to that particular blog. So for more Mercury Rev and other great stuff please visit this great blog http://mapref41n93w.blogspot.com/

Charity Shop Bargains : 01

As the weather was brilliant at the weekend we decided to take a wee day trip up the coast to the Ayrshire town of Largs. While waiting for my partner outside one shop I noticed a couple of charity shops nearby. I had read on some blogs of people finding some bargains in the cd racks of these types of places so decided to have a quick look. It wasn't that great to be honest but in amongst the usual Spice Girls, Take That and Ronan Keating cds there were a few items of interest. In the first shop I bought the 4 cd singles above which were by Fluke, Orbital, Death In Vegas and The Chemical Brothers. Not bad for £2 in total. I've put one track from each of the singles below.

--------------

01 The Chemical Brothers - Leave Home [Underworld Mix 1]

02 Death In Vegas - Dirt [Old Skool Mix]

03 Orbital - Times Fly [Slow]

04 Fluke - Slid [PDF Mone]*

* The sleeve states that this track is Squirt but it is actually Slid. Or so I'm told.

Various : Jockey Slut Jukebox

Jockey Slut was a UK based dance music/club culture magazine which was published between 1993 and 2004. Although this was a style of music which I was never deeply into the magazine did give away some interesting cover mounted cds. This 9 track compilation was given away with the Feb/March 1998 issue to celebrate the magazine's 5th birthday.
