From East Kilbride in Scotland, released on Creation Records, drenched in distortion and feedback you could be forgiven for thinking this was The Jesus and Mary Chain when it first assaulted your ears on the John Peel show in 1985. In fact there were strong rumours flying around at the time that this was the Reid brothers under another name. As it happens the rumours were quashed when Meat Whiplash supported the Mary Chain at the infamous North London Polytech show that ended in a riot. Legend has it that it was the support band who actually caused the riot by throwing a glass bottle back into the crowd after it had ben thrown at them on stage. This 7 inch single was the only release by the band, who took their name from a Fire Engines b-side and was allegedly produced by William Reid. The fold-out cover which featured a picture of American actor Robert Vaughn on the front was printed/folded by Bobby Gillespie (Primal Scream) and Alan McGee. In the late 1980's members of the band formed The Motorcycle Boy with Alex Taylor of The Shop Assistants on vocals.
