April 15th 1989 is the day that fans of Liverpool Football Club will never forget. It wasn't the day they won yet another trophy to add to the dozens already secured in the club's great history. No, this was the day when thousands of those fans made the journey to Sheffield to watch their heroes in an F.A. Cup semi-final aginst rivals Nottingham Forest. 96 of those fans would never return home to their loved ones and many more would live with the nightmare for the rest of their lifes. There are many theories into what caused the fatal crush, many fingers have been pointed. I will leave that for the people who were there, who know the truth, who hopefully one day will see justice for those poor supporters who perished and the loved ones they left behind. I remember reading afterwards that the late Radio One DJ, a lifelong Liverpool fan, begun his first show following the tragedy with Aretha Franklin's gospel version of 'You'll Never Walk Alone' a song which the Liverpool fans have made their own. Here for the 96 fans no longer with us is that song. Rest In Peace.
