ALEX CHILTON

ALEX CHILTON
28-12-50 to 17-03-10
-
Influential U.S. singer-songwriter Alex Chilton died last week at the age of 59. Chilton started his music career as singer with 60's band The Box Tops who had a massive hit worldwide with 'The Letter'. After the band split Chilton joined Big Star where critical acclaim rather than mega sales was the order of the day. Alex was a major influence on many of today's 'alternative'bands none more so than Scotland's own Teenage Fanclub.
